Amidst the undisturbed natural and lush green setting of the Mookambika Wildlife Sanctuary, the Anejhari Butterfly Camp promises an experience of a lifetime with the Souparnika River meandering gently by the camp and the sweet fragrance of the trees flowing in the air.

The camp offers an amazing opportunity to trek the Kodachadri peak (10th highest peak in Karnataka), a declared natural heritage site by the Government of Karnataka. Kodachadri forms the background to the famous temple of Mookambika in Kollur, a visit to which is also a part of the many activities at the camp. Maravanthe and Byndoor are two beaches both of which are at a distance of around 35 km from the camp enhancing the entire experience for the guests.

Falcon Tours and Travels The in-camp activities include birding, butterfly watching and some adventure based activities like trekking (requires proper shoes). To catch the fresh breath of soothing air, a visit to Arisinagundi falls can be arranged from the camp. On the Butterfly Trail, one might get an opportunity to watch butterflies of various hues and colours including Tamil Lacewing, Plain Puffin, Malabar Tree Nymph, Paris Peacock, Grey Count, Red Helen, and Blue Oak Leaf. There is a possibility that one may spot a Malabar Giant Squirrel, Sambar Deer, Wild Boar, Indian gaur, peacocks, barking deer, and other wild animals. Birds, including Malabar Pied Hornbill, Malabar Grey Hornbill, Small Blue Kingfisher, Stork-billed Kingfisher and Asian Paradise Flycatcher, could be spotted at the camp. There is a children's play area also within the camp.

Itinerary: Day 1

1:00 pm: Check in, Settle down and freshen up
1:30 pm - 2:30 pm: Treat yourself to a sumptuous lunch Ghol Ghar
4:00 pm - 6:00 pm: Our naturalists take you on a Trekking at Mookambika Wildlife showing & sharing their experiences and information about the jungle and all the animals that live there
6:45 pm - 7:00 pm: Tea/ coffee served at the Ghol Ghar
7:00 pm - 8:00 pm: Watch a wildlife movie at the Ghol Ghar.
8:30 pm - 9:30 pm: While you dine in the Ghol Ghar, exchanging tales of the jungle with the other guests and our staff.

Day 2

6:00 am: Wake-up call.
6:15 am - 6:30 am: Tea/ coffee served at the Ghol Ghar.
6:30 am - 9:00 am: Bird Watching/Butterfly watching at Mookambika Wildlife.
9:00 am - 10:00 am: Breakfast
10:30 am: Checkout

The best period to visit the Anejhari Nature Camp is from October to March.

Travel Tips

  • Dress for comfort. Do avoid bright colours and stick to muted shades of green, black, grey and brown. The more you meld with the background, the better.
  • Wear comfortable walking shoes.
  • Avoid smoking – anything can start a forest fire.
  • You’ll be spending a lot of time outdoors. Don’t forget your hat, sunscreen, sunglasses, torch, etc.
  • Avoid plastics. We’re really trying to cut down on plastics.
  • Pets are strictly not allowed
