DAY 01: New Jalpaiguri Railway Station / Gangtok (125 Kms / 3 Hrs)

Falcon Tours and Travels Morning on arrival at New Jalpaiguri Railway Station / Bagdogra Airport and transfer to Gangtok - the capital city of Sikkim is located on a ridge at a height of 5500 meters. With a spectacular view of the Khangchendzonga, the town provides the perfect base for travel through the state. Once an important transit point for traders traveling between Tibet and India, it is today a busy administrative and business centre and presents an interesting mix of cultures and communities. On arrival at Gangtok, check in to the hotel and freshen up. Lunch, later on half day sightseeing, visit to Enchey Gompa - Set amidst a forested patch, the Enchey Gompa comes alive with religious festivals and dances in the month of August and January. Needless to say, this is the best time to visit the monastery. Otherwise too, this Chinese Pagoda styled edifice, built in 1901 during the reign of Sidkeong Tulku, Namgyal Research Institute of Tibetology - is built in the typical Tibetan style of architecture; roosted on a hilltop, it is an absolute must see. Situated amongst woods of magnolia and oak, the institute promotes research on the largest collections of books and manuscripts on Mahayana Buddhism in the world, Changu Lake - Cradled by pristine alpine forests, the Changu Lake is bordered with primula, poppies and other wildflowers and grasses, and a little temple of Shiva (Destroyer of the Universe according to Hindu mythology) dots one side of the placid water body. Return back to the hotel and overnight.

DAY 02: Gangtok

Falcon Tours and TravelsMorning after breakfast, full day sightseeing visit to Bi Cable Ropeway - Birds eye view of Gangtok take a ride on the bi-cable Zig-back ropeway. The one kilometer ride from Deorali to Tashiling Secretariat. On clear weather the ride offers a great view of the Khangchendzonga range apart from an overview of Gangtok town and the valley below, Ganesh Tok - situated on a ridge at a distance of 7 kms from Gangtok. From this Spot one can get a view of sprawling Gangtok town, while across the hills Mt. Khang-chen-Dzonga and Mt. Siniolchu loom over the horizon, Hanuman Tok - a temple dedicated to Lord Hanuman, is situated at an altitude of 7200 feet at a distance of about nine kilometers uphill from Gangtok on a blissfully calm and quiet hilltop. The location is completely free from the pollution of city life. Return back to the hotel and freshen up. Later on in the evening visit to MG Marg - the main street of Gangtok town is a great place to chill out. The country's first litter and spit free zone, no vehicular traffic is allowed into the Marg. You can sit at the Titanic Park or at the various benches stretched across the mall and take in the carnival like atmosphere, especially during the tourist season. Return back to the hotel and overnight.

DAY 03: Gangtok / Pelling (132 Kms / 4 Hrs)

Falcon Tours and TravelsMorning after breakfast, check out of the hotel and proceed to Pelling - is today emerging as the second biggest tourist destination in the state after Gangtok. Although in itself it is little more than a strip of road lined with hotels, its main USP is the breathtaking view it offers of the Khangchendzonga and surrounding ranges, as well as the easy access it provides to tourist spots in the area. Pemayangste monastery is less than a kilometer from Pelling while a 40 minute walk on the hill opposite the monastery takes you to Sanga Choling Monastery built in 1697, one of the first in the state. Later on half day sightseeing, visit to Dubdi Monastery - 2 km uphill from Yuksum is Dubdi monastery, the oldest in Sikkim. The monastery has now been declared a National Monument and is under the protection of the Archaeological Survey of India, Khangchendzonga Water Falls - it is a place not to be missed by the tourists for its breathtaking beauty of a wild torrent of water cascading down granite rocks. It is an amazing sight and most visitors stop to marvel at this great symbiosis of sound and sight. Return back to the hotel and overnight.

DAY 04: Pelling

Falcon Tours and TravelsMorning after breakfast, full day sightseeing, visit to Pemayangste Monastery - draws religious sustenance from the Mindoling Monastery in Central Tibet. About a century ago, batches of monks from Pemayangste were sent to Mindoling for instructions in strict discipline and rites. The monastery contains numerous antique idols and objects of worship and is filled with wall paintings and sculptures. A stand-out feature of the Monastery is a seven-tiered painted wooden structure on the top floor portraying the Guru Rimpoche's Heavenly Palace 'Santopalri' which was completed single handedly by the late Dungzin Rimpoche in a span of five years, Sang-Choling Monastery - This monastery is situated on a ridge above Pelling facing the Pemayangste Monastery. Built in 1697 A.D. it is considered to be one of the oldest monasteries of the State, Khecheopalri Lake - it is considered to be one of the sacred lakes of the State both by the Buddhist and the Hindus. The Lake remains hidden under the rich forest cover. The birds do not permit even a single leaf to float on the lake surface. There is motor able road from Pemayangste right up to the lake area. Return back to the hotel and overnight.

DAY 04: Pelling / New Jalpaiguri (150 Kms / 5 Hrs)

Morning after breakfast, check out of the hotel and proceed to New Jalpaiguri Railway Station to board your train back to your onward Destination. Tour Ends.
